Open Space
The open space format allows anyone who participates at the conference to discuss his or her ideas, questions or situations.
The open space starts with an introduction to the rules of the format. Then, anybody who wants to discuss a topic comes forward and adds it to the agenda, specifying a time and a place. After all topics have been laid out, the meetings begin.
Anybody who is interested in a proposed topic can participate. The rules for each meeting are:
1. Whenever it starts, it starts
2. Whenever it ends, it ends
3. Whoever comes is the right people
4. Whatever happened is the only thing that could have happened
All participants are asked to apply The Law of Two Feet:
Whenever you find yourself in a situation when you don’t learn anything new or don’t contribute anymore, use your two feet to move to another meeting.
The open space ends with a retrospective, where participants share what they learned.
