Last year, we worked very hard to organize the first big Romanian Agile event. We think that it was a success (with a peak in number of participants at about 130), so we take on ourselves the difficult task to organize the second edition – Open Agile 2010.
We learnt a lot during the first conference, and we are trying to integrate our acquired knowledge into the organization of this event. The most important thing we’ve learned is that we need more help from the software industry professionals for the organization of the event.
Objectives
Our main objective is to create an event that’s more open than ever before (in Romania). Agile is about people, about communities, about sharing ideas. We want the AgileWorks community, the other Romanian (or Eastern European) agilists and everyone who cares about software development to be the driving force of the conference.
Make this your conference
Share your stories, your difficulties or your expectations, through comments or emails. We will let the speakers know what you ask for so they can fine tune their talks. We will also try to organize the conference such that it answers to your requests or needs. The emails will not be published anywhere and the comments can be anonymous.
We need volunteers. As part of the organizing team, you will participate for free, provided that you fulfill some tasks in exchange. Contact the organizing team for details about the needs.
Advertise yourself at the conference. We offer flexible advertising packages that can include banners on the website, banners in the conference rooms and/or presentation booths. You will also help the Romanian software development community, because the number and quality of the speakers depends on the budget.
Participate actively to the event. Besides the typical presentations, where you are encouraged to ask questions, we will host an open space track where everyone will be able to discuss real live problems with some of the well known people from the industry. This opportunity doesn’t present itself very often in Romania, and we want everyone to take advantage of it.
Be part of the community, after the conference. The AgileWorks community exists from 2 years and has held free, community events in Cluj, Brasov, Timisoara and of course Bucuresti, both of organizational and technical nature, including presentations, open discussions and workshops. As a member of the community, you will learn of any new event, have access to the (free) donation-based library and share experience with other people from the industry. If you are an active member, you will get various advantages at agile-related events like trainings, workshops or conferences.
What the conference is and isn’t
We can tell you one thing that the conference isn’t: It’s not marketing-driven. The speakers are not allowed to promote specific tools, technologies or companies. All marketing will be done in organized spaces, with easy access for the participants.
Otherwise, the conference is what you make it to be. Depending on the budget, we can bring more speakers and/or well known ones. Depending on your needs, we can discuss one topic or another. You are the driving force, we are just the facilitators.
